In 1972 Reverend Barbara (Duncan) Jackson became a member of Liberty Baptist Church (by Christian experience and baptism). In June 1993 she was called into the gospel ministry and tutored under the late Rev. Richard M. Rice, laboring as: Church Administrator, Sunday School Instructor, Vacation Bible School Director, Bible Study Instructor and Women’s Coordinator. She is a graduate of Hart Jr. High, Ballou and Cardoza Senior High Schools (Wash. DC)
She remains the first female preacher to be “licensed and ordained to preach the gospel” in the 150 year old history of Liberty Baptist Church.

Rev. Dr. Isaac A. Fox was born to the late Susie and Ned Will Fox in Nashville, North Carolina where he received his elementary and high school education. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina. He did further study in chemistry and was a candidate for the Master of Science in Science teaching (MSST©) from American University in Washington, D.C.
In addition, Rev. Fox received a Master of Science (MS) in Information Science from the University of the District of Columbia and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Howard University School of Divinity, where he received the Bishop Wilfred Hood Award.
He did further study in the Doctor of Ministry Program at the University of Virginia at Lynchburg in Lynchburg, Virginia, and the Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in Newburgh IN. He competed all the requirements for the Doctor of Ministry (D. Min.) and was awarded this degree in 2011 from the Esoteric Theological Seminary (ETS). He wrote his dissertation on “Fundamentalism and its effect on Christian Ethics”.
Under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. John R. Wheeler, Rev. Fox served as a Deacon and General Superintendent of Sunday School at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church for seventeen years. He preached his initial sermon and was licensed, on January 31, 1995, and then ordained on August 16, 1997. Upon ordination, Rev. Fox served as Assistant to the Pastor for Sick Visitation and Pastoral Care for ten years. Rev Fox continued to serve under Rev Cornelius R. Wheeler until he retired due to health concerns, at which time he was voted in as Interim Pastor. He served in that capacity from July 31, 2016 to April 30, 2018 when a new Pastor was selected.
Rev. Fox, a Korean Veteran, is a Paid Up For Life (PUFL) member of the George S. Patton, Jr. Tank Corps, Post #19 of the American Legion, Washington, D.C., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc, and the Missionary Baptist Ministers Conference of Washington D.C. and Vicinity.
Rev. Fox is married to the former Miss Jessie M. Bullock. They have been blessed with two daughters, Angela (Clayton) and Natalie (Allan) and four grandchildren Christopher, Cynthia, and Curtis Wheeler and Allan Holtz Jr. His centering passage of Scripture is Micah 6:8: “He has shown you O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Rev. Fox’s passion is music, studying Scripture and ministering to the elderly and those who are lonely sick, and hurting.

Rev. Shaun L. Johnson is a native of Reidsville, NC and has lived in the District of Columbia. Rev. Johnson accepted the call to ministry in 1986 and began preaching at the age of 19.
He has served in various ministry capacities (assistant pastor, director of music & arts, director of college ministry, etc.) and is currently serves as associate minister at Calvary Apostolic Community Church in Fredericksburg, VA.

With over 20 years of experience, Sheena serves as a skilled workforce and family development specialist. She passionately works with homeless families under the District of Columbia's Family Re-housing and Stabilization Program and works with domestic violence organizations. Sheena proudly serves as a Liaison for Health & Human Services in the District of Columbia.

Shawn Ruffing was born on February 12, 1978 in Washington, D.C. to the late Elder Dr. Geraldine J. & Ellis E. Ruffing. He is the brother of Miesha Jones. He graduated from District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and went on to further his education at Southeastern University majoring in Business Administration Management and currently at Walden University majoring in Education. Shawn join Vermont Avenue Baptist Church on June 3, 2001 under the pastorate of the late Reverend Dr. John Rayford Wheeler and took the right hand of fellowship on June 10, 2001. Shawn has been a member of VABC for twenty - three years (23) by serving in several capacities of the church which includes the Music Ministry, Prayer Meeting, and the most recent of becoming a Sunday School Teacher.
Shawn’s hobbies include planning programs and events, doing community service with non-profit organizations, traveling, singing, shopping, and encouraging people with prayer and reading scriptures to build their faith.
His favorite scripture for the body of Christ is the Book of Isaiah 53:1 which states, “Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?”
